I’ve been waiting since early March for spring, and now it’s finally here!
The weather is a balmy 70 degrees, there isn’t a cloud in the sky, and all the trees are in bloom – or at least they’re in bud. It’s relief after the stormy weather and having to stay cooped up in my office all day.
I took a little stroll around my office during lunch today. It was the perfect opportunity to stretch my legs and take a few pictures with my camera phone. They’re not super impressive, (I’m no professional photographer), but I thought I’d show them anyway.
These trees are all in a row at my parking lot and around my apartment buildings. I have no idea what kind they are, but I love seeing so many blossoms in one place.
My walk made me realize there are lots of different trees around my building. Some of them still look dead, but if you look close, you can see little buds and leaves growing.
I might not like staying cooped up in my office, but I love walking around outside it. The trees provide plenty of shade, the grass is well kept (for the most part), and a few benches along the sidewalk make it the perfect place to eat lunch. I love soaking in the sun while I eat.
My lunch doesn’t have a lot of variety. Most days, I get up and I’m too sleepy to be creative with what I eat: either it’s some Progresso soup that I microwave later, or I make a sandwich to eat. To fill it out, I usually throw an apple and a granola bar in my lunch. However, spring means more fresh fruits and veggies.
And of course, it also means strawberry season.
Strawberry season is incredibly short, so when the prices drop, my husband and I buy up as many as we can before our next shopping trip. Whenever we have them, I pack them up in my lunch and eat them with as much enjoyment as I would chocolate.
I’m kind of funny about strawberries though, I don’t like eating the tops – the white little bit attached to the green. Technically I can eat it, but I just don’t like it compared to the rest of the strawberry.
I love spring with all its changes – cold weather to hot and dead leaves to new buds.
I’m not sure what other changes will happen this spring, but I’m excited to see what else it brings!
