I Buy These 5 Healthy Snacks at Costco

My husband and I like to call Costco the Adult Disneyland of shopping locations.

Everything’s big. Everything’s expensive. And everything’s exciting.

But as much as we love shopping at Costco, we also have a tight budget and limited pantry space. When we buy in bulk, we have to strategize just how much money and room we can dedicate to our favorite Costco finds. As a result, we tend to buy our favorite foods again and again.

If you’re looking for some healthy snacks at Costco, I highly recommend the following foods.

1. Apple Pouches

If you have a little one in your family, then you may already know that applesauce pouches are worth their weight in gold. They’re small and easy to stuff into a diaper bag or backpack, so your kids can always have a healthy snack whenever you’re on the run. And the easy-squeeze pouch means you don’t have to worry about bringing along bowls or spoons, so mess is minimal and cleanup is easy.

Even if you don’t have children, these applesauce pouches are fun for adults, too. Because they’re in single-serve pouches, I don’t have to worry about my portion sizes. And each pouch is only 45 calories, so they’re one of a few guilt-free healthy snacks at Costco that I buy again and again.

At Costco, you can buy a box for about $10.

2. Paradise Green Dried Mango

Dried fruit is one of my favorite healthy snacks at Costco for a lot of reasons. It lasts a long time, so I don’t have to worry about my fruit going soft in the fridge (sorry, peaches!). It’s a great source of vitamin C, which helps with iron absorption. And it’s just plain tasty.

Paradise Green dried mangos, in particular, is my favorite brand of dried fruit. It has just the right amount of sweetness and chew, and it’s calorie friendly, so I can feel like I’m indulging without worrying about my weight.

I always grab some from Costco whenever I can because it keeps well in my pantry. A bag dried mango of typically sells for about $13, but every once in a while, Costco sells them for a couple dollars cheaper and that’s when I stock up.

3. Oberto Jerky

I bake a lot of bread at my house, and that means I eat too many carbs for my own good. Sometimes I struggle to eat enough protein, and I don’t like how much time it takes to cook chicken or fish for lunches and snacks.

Oberto Jerky, fortunately, is a great way to squeeze in more protein with minimal effort. It comes in a variety of flavors, and all of them are delicious. Whenever I’m feeling peckish, a little bit of jerky goes a long way. (And I mean a little bit of jerky. Jerky is high in sodium, so it’s best to keep portion sizes small.)

As with the dried mango, Oberto Jerky sells for about $13 a bag. But when it goes on sale, I love to buy a bag or two along with my other healthy snacks at Costco.

4. Kirkland Guacamole

Nothing beats my husband’s homemade guacamole with fresh avocados and tomatoes. However, we don’t always have the time to make guacamole ourselves, so when we’re in a hurry, we grab Kirkland’s organic chunky guacamole. It’s a close second to our homemade recipe.

I love that Kirkland guacamole comes in perfect single-serving size cups. It’s perfect for dipping chips and veggies. Or, if you want to put it on eggs or burritos, you can just scoop it out and it’s ready to go.

Although you can’t buy the guacamole from Costco’s website, you can find it in the refrigerated section for about $14 for a 16-count box.

5. Bare Apple Chips

Some days I get the urge for mindless snacking on crunchy things. If I don’t pay attention, I could easily down a whole bag of chips and still scrounge around for something else to chew.

But mindless snacking is definitely not a healthy habit.

When I’m in the mood for crunchy things, Bare Apple Chips is my go-to snack. Unlike the dried mango that has a soft, chewy texture, the dried apple chips are nice and crispy. Better still, they don’t have any added sugar, so they’re naturally sweet (but not too sweet). Sometimes, I even sprinkle apple chips in my oatmeal to round out my breakfast.

You can buy a 14-ounce bag for about $9. But as with the other healthy snacks at Costco, wait to buy them when they go on sale to maximize your savings.

What’s Your Favorite Costco Snack?

I love these healthy snacks at Costco, and I love saving money whenever I can. Of course, Costco has a lot of fun treats for an affordable price – not just the ones listed here.
