Happy Halloween everyone! I hope your day is filled with yummy candy and spooky fun times! I know 2020 has been a crazy year, so I wish you a safe time with your family and friends.
I wanted to draw something spooky for Halloween this year, especially since I didn’t participate in this year’s Inktober, like I usually do (and usually fail). Anyways, my daughter has me play Nightmare Before Christmas pretty much on a non-stop loop these days, so I decided to draw my favorite character from the movie: Sally the rag doll.
I’ve said it before, but I’m going to say it again. I am terrible at backgrounds. It’s something I really need to practice at to get better. But I still have so many other things I’m trying to teach myself that background art gets pushed to the side.
I am much happier with just the colored version of my doodle than I am of the full featured drawing.
My shading is still kind of weak and my color palette could be better, too. I guess I just need improvement all around.
Still, I’m going to cut myself some slack and share it with you because it’s growth! I’m still learning – and I’d like to think I’m getting better every time I draw.
Here’s the line art, in case you were interested.
Maybe I should just do line art? I don’t know. Or perhaps I could do print-outs for kids to color or something. They might even do a better job of coloring and shading than I did. Let me know if you’re interested.
