Do you remember the Loom-Knit Fair Isle Beanie tutorial I made recently? If not, you should definitely go check it out. It has some great step-by-step instructions for making a two-toned hat and Pom-Pom. Better still, it only uses a basic e-wrap stitch which is perfect for beginner knitters.
If you have seen my tutorial, then I have some exciting news for you. The hat is now available to purchase in my Etsy store or through my blog store. If you’re fast, you can have a little piece of Jennibee history because it’s the very hat from the tutorial. I can always make other similar hats, but this is the only hat in the photos.
I’m still learning the ropes when it comes to loom knitting. I know there are a lot of great patterns available on the Internet, but many of those patterns cost money to use and are confusing to follow. So I made my own. The pattern is based on other Fair Isle patterns, and but I used the Knitting Chart app on my iPad to create the alternating red and white design myself.
I also knitted this hat myself by hand on a round loom. I didn’t use a loom machine that would make the job easier. Each stitch was made with love while I nursed my baby. (That’s why all the little stitches look like hearts).
It took me a while to make my loom-knit Fair Isle beanie – especially since I had to stop every so often to take pictures for the tutorial so you could learn how to make one, too. Due to all the time and effort I put into this hat, it costs a bit more than your average machine-made store-bought beanie. I think it’s worth it, and I hope you do, too.
It seems like loom knitting is my big hobby this year. In the past it was avocado-pit carving, water color painting, and even wood burning made its way on my list of fun things to learn and do. Thanks to the fact that my son likes to nurse often, I have a lot more time to sit and knit than I used to. As a result, you can expect me to tackle quite a few more knitting projects in the near future.
I already have ideas for unique color patterns and stitches, and I’m excited to share my experiences with you through tutorials. If you liked my loom-knit Fair Isle beanie, keep checking my tutorial section for more unique knits.
I enjoy knitting whenever I have the chance. Although I’m fairly busy juggling my baby and my bread blog, I’d love to make you a custom beanie. Shoot me a message through my contact me page or through my Etsy store. If you’re patient with me, I’d love to take your commission for a custom-colored hat.
