It’s That Time of Year Again

In case you don’t know me that well, I’m a sucker for the fall season.

I know that makes me a pretty standard white woman, but I love watching the leaves change colors, and I can’t buy enough fresh school supplies (for my daughter, of course, *ahem*). I love the cooler weather and wearing jackets with everything. And let’s not forget pumpkin puree in just about everything.

Anyways, I figured I’d give you all an update on what’s been going on in my life these days.

My Life on Repeat

Remember my post from earlier this year where my life kept looping? Well, it’s happening again.

When I sat down to write today’s post, I was all set to title it “I’ve been a busy bee” because, you know, I’ve got some bee pics to share. But I thought it felt a bit familiar, so I thought I’d check previous posts for any repeats.

Lo and behold. I’ve already written a post with that exact title.

Even more strange, is that it pretty much covers the same kind of content I was going to write about today, too. If you don’t feel like taking a peek into the old post, I’ll sum up really fast. It essentially shares a few bee pictures, talks about the previous hiatus from blogging, and how I’ve been going to the gym to get into a good headspace.

It’s wild. Seriously. That’s what’s happening all over again. Right now.

I took a brief break from blogging. Now that the weather isn’t as hot, I’m taking walks again and that means more bee photos. And Lily’s back in school, so I’m using that time to go to the gym and get healthy.

Am I really so predictable?

What’s Different?

Turns out that I fall into the same old patterns month after month and year after year. Still, I’m hoping to break the loop just a little bit by making a few small changes.

My daughter started Kindergarten this year – so that’s been a crazy adjustment. Instead of her going to school for two hours twice a week, now she’s going every day. And my schedule changed to accommodate her new schedule.

And with a consistent school schedule, I can get better, more consistent workouts going. I’ve learned how to track my calories more consistently and monitor my nutrition, so I’m closer to reach my weigh loss goal than ever before. I feel stronger and more energetic than last year, and even my skin is a little clearer thanks to more fruits and veggies in my diet.

In addition to playing around with bread recipes, I’ve been experimenting with making my own yogurt. My yogurt has been kind of hit and miss so far, though each batch made in my Euro Cuisine Yogurt Maker* brings me a little closer to the thicker, creamier yogurt that I used to buy in stores.

The biggest difference, this fall season, however, is my lack of garden fresh tomatoes. I tried to plant them this year, like I do every year, but they just didn’t thrive. No salsa this year, alas. I did, however, manage to grow one zucchini plant, which has given me a single squash to enjoy. I hope there will be more zucchini to come, but I doubt it. My garden is very sad this year.

Stay Tuned

Well, I hope I didn’t ramble too much today, but I figured if you’re reading my personal posts, you don’t actually mind the meandering. Most people only jump on over to my family recipes, including my family. So if you found your way here, congratulations! You are one of my few, faithful readers, and I love you.

I hope your fall is just wonderful.
