Some Expression Practice

Alrighty! I found my drawing groove for a bit.

Well, at least I found it long enough to draw this lovely lady right here.

This started out as a rough sketch based on some expressions I found on Pinterest. But then she kind of evolved a little.

As you can see, I loosely used the four expressions on the left to get the angle of the head and the proportions more or less correct. And then I used the model on the right for colors and hairstyle and the overall look. Between the two, I’ve made a fun new character.

Of course, I came away not entirely satisfied as usual.

I’m mostly happy with the drawings, but the angry face actually made me mad. I couldn’t find a way to make the hair and the glasses balance or look right. I feel like I came close enough to just leave it at that, but it’s not great.

And discovered, once again, that I’m not great with consistency. Even though I used the same Pinterest model for all four drawings, I couldn’t quite get the hair shape the same throughout each expression. I probably should have used more basic shapes so when the angle changed, I could visualize things better.

Ah well.

At least I drew something. And drawing makes me happy.
