So, I’m not sure if you saw my earlier sourdough discard cinnamon quick bread recipe, but I loved the base recipe so much that I thought I’d play around with it and see what else I could do. And here is what I came up with this week: Sourdough Discard Lemon Bread.
As with my cinnamon bread, my poppy seed bread is a fantastic way to include sourdough discard. I always have too much discard. As a result, a recipe that uses an entire cup is super useful to me.
Light, Sweet, and Summery
Know what’s even better than using up all my discard in one quick recipe? The flavor. My goodness – I just love the lemon flavor mixed with the sourdough tang. My sourdough discard lemon bread tastes like summer, especially when covered in glaze. Oddly enough, my husband thinks the bread tastes like Fruit Loops cereal. I happen to enjoy that brand of cereal, so I still consider the comparison a compliment.
I’m pretty proud of this recipe, so take a few minutes to go check it out on my blog BreadbytheHour.com. You’ll find my latest sourdough discard lemon bread, as well as all the other bread recipes I’ve made over the years.
