I’m Learning to Draw Backgrounds

Hey there everyone! I know it’s been a month or two since my last post, so I thought I’d just write a quick update.

In case you don’t follow me on my Instagram (@Jennibeedoodles), I’ve been experimenting with backgrounds, poses, and lighting. I know they’re not great yet, but I’m just feeling good about my progress so far. I’ve been having a lot of fun.

Most of these drawings start out with a model I found on Pinterest. There’s usually something that I like that I want to mimic, whether it’s a pose or maybe a hair style or an expression. In the above picture, I liked her hairstyle. In the one below, I liked the arm on the hip pose.

Once I find a good reference, I try my best to make it my own from there. I change up the expression, alter the clothing, and play around with color. I think every time I draw something, I get just a little bit better and learn something new. It’s not a lot of progress, and I still have a long way to go, but I’m having a good time anyway.

I’m honestly not sure where I’m going with these, but I’m excited to see where I end up.
